MAAKOLAM 01    

        
     This is a MAAKOLAM, a kolam made with rice paste.  Rice is soaked in water for one or two hours and ground into fine paste.   The rice paste is diluted a little and using a piece of cloth or cotton this type of maakolam is drawn.  It gives a bright look when it drys completely.  Generally maakolam is drawn for auspicious occasions.  Colours can be added to the rice paste and colour maakolam can also be drawn.
